SEBRING CAMPAIGN CUT SHORT: A TALE OF DETERMINATION AND PERSEVERANCE

Korthoff Preston Motorsports (KPM) eagerly ventures to central Florida, ready to tackle one of the most prestigious endurance races globally—the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

An army airfield transformed into a race track, Sebring International Raceway, with its seventeen turns stretched across a bumpy 3.74 miles, stands as an iconic venue in the realm of motorsports. With some of the sport’s most dedicated fans, original airport concrete from the army airfield, and the sounds of race cars reaching near 200 mph, this race guarantees to test the endurance and capabilities of the cars, drivers, and crew alike.

With an impressive beginning to the season, securing 5th place in the GTD category at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona and earning the endurance championship points after leading the event at the twelve-hour mark—only to be slowed by engine issues—Korthoff Preston Motorsports aims to uphold its reputation as the reigning IMSA Endurance Champions for the GTD class, following their victory in the 2023 season.

The second-longest race of the IMSA season presents a distinct array of challenges and trials for the No. 32 Mercedes-AMG driver trio: Mike Skeen, Mikael Grenier, and Kenton Koch. After leading 135 laps in this race last year, KPM is back with a vengeance and a new livery, ready to meet and exceed last year’s performance, where a late-race penalty cost them the lead.

When asked about the upcoming endurance round, KPM Driver Mikael Grenier is confident in his team’s ability to be in the center of the fight.“Sebring is one of my favorite races of the year. We had a really good race there last year until the last hour. We have to be consistent and make no mistakes to be in the fight at the end, but I am confident we will be there.”— Mikael Grenier

Mike Skeen mirrored the confidence of his co-driver, citing their solid run at Daytona and their strong test performance at Sebring a few weeks ago.“We had a solid run at Daytona to start the year, and a great test at Sebring to prepare for the 12hr. I know the team will be strong, and we just have to execute on track to get that win and maintain our lead in the endurance championship.”— Mike Skeen

Kenton Koch added that he is looking forward to the different challenges this course offers.“Always fun to come back to Sebring. Daytona and this are two of the coolest races to start the year. This one has different challenges, with traffic management being a little more difficult and night being really dark here with not much artificial light around the track. I am looking forward to it.”— Kenton Koch

The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring will be broadcast on Peacock on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. EST.
